Grand Prairie Genealogical Society meets the first Thursday of each month. Meetings held in the meeting room at the Grand Prairie Memorial Library, 901 Conover Drive.
Join the members for an interesting and informative speaker, Barb Wylie, whose topic will be "Rats in the Family Tree" on Aug. 7. Every family has a few members who run afoul of the law or who stub a toe against the values of their community. Use the records to learn more about the rest of the family as well!
The speaker, Barbara Brixey Wylie, a longtime member of GPGS, has served the genealogical community as a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists' Board of Directors and as an officer in its Lone Star Chapter. She also served the Texas State Genealogical Society as Representative for District 11. Her speaking experience includes conferences of the National Genealogical Society, and the Federation of Genealogical Societies as well as numerous state, regional and local genealogical and historical societies.
