Award-winning performer and storyteller Maricela appears at the Dia de los Ninos (Day of the Children) Event, at the Tony Shotwell Life Center. Her performance will be at 4:30 pm on Wed., April 30.
Born and raised in Costa Rica, Maricela Zamora-Carelock has been playing the guitar and performing since she was fourteen. Growing up, her first audiences were schools, hospitals and orphanages. Later, while attending the University of Costa Rica , she discovered her love for music and ultimately launched her singing career. Her talent for singing and writing songs quickly developed and her music spread across Costa Rica.
Maricela has been in the United States since 1989. She is the mother of seven children and one step son.
Her motto quickly became "Give the Gift of Laughter". Since then, she has traveled and inspired thousands both young and old alike. As an innovative speaker and composer, her creative music and lyrics have influenced countless lives around the world through radio, TV shows, and live performances.
