GRAND PRAIRIE – Grand Prairie’s Lit on Main has been named a finalist in the Best Promotional Event category of the 2013 Texas Downtown Association (TDA) President’s Awards Program. On Thursday, Nov. 7, winners will be announced at an awards gala, held in conjunction with the 2013 Texas Downtown Development and Revitalization Conference in Bastrop, Texas.

Lit on Mainbrought hundreds downtown to Grand Prairie’s Main Street to get Lit on Main at a decadently delicious, must-attend holiday party to kick off the season and light up Main Street with Christmas lights. The objective was to help bring new life to our positively changing Main Street. Staged at historic Uptown Theater, Lit on Main featured an Ugly Lamp Contest, Artist Lamp Raffle, appetizers, desserts, carolers, photos with Santa, specialty drinks, fun and friends.

“The Best Promotional Event award recognizes excellence in creation and execution of downtown or commercial district promotional events, including festivals,” says Catherine Sak of the Texas Downtown Association. Finalists in this category include Dogtoberfest of Beaumont and 6x6@110 of Tyler. Other categories include, Best Commercial Interior, Best Downtown Business, Best Downtown Partner, Best Marketing Program, Best New Construction, Best Public Improvement, Best Renovation/Rehabilitation and Best Restoration.

Since 1998, the Awards Program has recognized more than 150 projects, events and people that make a difference in Texas downtowns. To learn more, visit
