The city of Grand Prairie recognizes that vacations contribute to the well-being and morale of its employees. Therefore, it is the policy of the city to provide annual paid vacation leave benefits to all full and part time employees working at least 20 hours per week, but not including seasonal or temporary employees.

In addition to vacation time, eligible employees also receive one personal holiday to be taken on the day of the employee's choice, upon necessary approvals.
The city of Grand Prairie also offers full-time and part-time employees the following paid holidays:

The policy applies to all full time and part-time employees, not including seasonal, temporary or contract employees without benefits.
When one of the above named holidays or a special holiday declared by the City Council falls on Saturday, the holiday shall be observed on the preceding Friday, or if it falls on Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday by employees working Monday through Friday work weeks.
Employees are eligible for a personal holiday after they have completed six months of employment.
