Libraries host free STEAM activities for kids and teens

The Grand Prairie Libraries host a variety of STEAM activities – free programs that encourage interest and exploration in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.

For Kids

Full STEAM Ahead
Main Library: Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. (Through May 1)
Shotwell Library: Tuesdays at 3:45 p.m.*
Warmack Library: Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m.
(Through May 2)
For elementary school grades 1–5. Come hang out and join in fun art, math, engineering, literacy and science activities with your friends. This elementary school program focuses on STEAM and social/emotional interactions. No programs Dec. 22 through Jan. 1, March 19-23, or May 7-18.
*This program will be held at Garcia Elementary, 2444 Graham St., Jan. 23-May 22.

Hip Hop with Ernesto
Main Library: Wednesday, Jan. 10, 4:30 p.m.
For elementary school grades 1–5. Start the new year off right with this special edition Full STEAM
Ahead program. Learn and practice the latest in popping, locking and stepping with Ernesto from
United Dance Academy.

Byte-Size Tech
Main Library: Wednesday, Feb. 7 and  May 2, 4:30 p.m.
For grades 3-8. Join us for this hands-on, technology-filled program. Space and supplies are limited. Registration is required, please contact Mia at or 972-237-5715.

Little STEAMers
Warmack Library: Wednesdays in February, 10:30 a.m.
For children ages 3–5. Join us as we explore, observe and interact with the world around us in

Celebrate National Fly A Kite Day

Introduction to 3D Design (Grades 6–12)
Warmack Library: Tuesdays in February, 5-5:45 p.m.

Learn the basics of 3D Design using TinkerCAD. After completing the introduction exercises, teens
will design a simple object to be printed with the library’s Makerbot 3D printer. Registration required,
