Nurture your Creativity at the Grand Prairie Libraries

Arts and crafts programs for all ages

The Grand Prairie Libraries offer arts and crafts programs for all ages. Most are free, and may require registration. Although we try to host as many guests as we can, space and supplies are limited, and we may have to close programs once they are full.

For Kids 

Celebrate National Fly A Kite Day
Shotwell Library: Thursday, Feb. 8, 4-5 p.m.
For grades 1-6. Join us for this special STEAM kite making workshop, and take your handmade kite home. Supplies are limited. First come, first served.

Inspire Your Heart with Art Valentine’s Crafternoon
Shotwell Library: Monday, Feb 12, 4-5 p.m.
For grades K–6. Need to make a Valentine, but don’t know where to go? Join us for an afternoon of crafting. Make and take your Valentine. Supplies are limited, first come, first served.

Art Babies
Main Library: Feb. 12, 11-11:45 a.m.
Shotwell Library: Feb. 15, noon-12:45 p.m.
For babies 0-12 mo. Join us for this special Book Babies program all about art! Babies will explore and create different forms of art with safe, non-toxic materials. Prepare to get messy! For questions, contact Mia at or 972-237-5715.

Watercolor Workshop
Main Library: Mondays, Feb. 5 and 19, 4:30 p.m.
For first grade and older. In this two-part series, children will learn how to mix colors, create monochromatic colors and about complementary colors and blending. In the second workshop, children will apply their knowledge of colors to paint a picture using different techniques. Participation in both classes is encouraged. Mystery Crafternoon Make-and-Take
Monday, March 12, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Shotwell Library. For grades K-6. Supplies are limited.

Art of Origami

Warmack Library: March 15 from 2:15 to 3:45 pm.
For Pre-K and up. On this Spring Break Thursday, enjoy some crafting time – multiple projects to choose from, while supplies last.

For Adults

Second Saturday Stitchers
Second Saturday of each month at the Warmack Library
9 a.m.- noon Needle workers meet to craft and socialize. Bring your stitch project, and we’ll enjoy each other’s company as we work. Open to quilters, sewists, knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers, etc. A trained sewing instructor will be present to help problem solve. Tables available for sewing machines or quilt basting as space allows.

Saturday Morning Pinterest Club
Saturdays, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Warmack Library
