Pumpkin Decorating Contest
Entries accepted Oct.18-24. The Grand Prairie Main Library would like to invite all members of the community to participate in a Book Character Pumpkin Decorating Contest. This is for all ages, and we encourage you to work together with your family and friends. Choose a character from a book—fiction or nonfiction. The book does not have to be presented with the pumpkin, but please state who the character is and from which book or series on your entry form. No CARVED pumpkins will be accepted. Prizes will be awarded in several categories on October 26th at 6 p.m. More information and entry forms available at the Main and Warmack Libraries.
Family Science Night is held at the Main Library on the first Wednesday of each month, at 6:30 p.m.
Are you up for the challenge? Compete as a family in tests of creativity and ingenuity. On October 4, take the Candy Corn Catapult challenge. Registration is required. Please email Kristi at firstname.lastname@example.org
Pumpkin Decorating: A Special Toddler Time Program
At the Main Library on Friday, October 13 at 1 p.m. Join us for this pumpkin decorating program. We’ll decorate pumpkins as book characters. If you’d like, you can enter your pumpkin in our pumpkin decorating contest! Supplies are limited. Registration required. Pumpkin Decorating: A Full STEAM Ahead Special Program
At the Warmack Library on Wednesday, October 11 at 4:15 p.m.
For grades 1-5. Turn a pumpkin into your favorite book character using paint and other materials provided. There will be a limited supply of pumpkins, but you are welcome to bring your own pumpkin and supplies. You may choose to enter your pumpkins into Grand Prairie Memorial Library Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Contest forms will be available. Space is limited. First come, first served.

All ages welcome. Join us for wickedly funny and sometimes eerie tales from around the world accompanied by original songs and various instruments. Spooky (but not too spooky)! This project is supported in part by a grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts.
Ghost Hunting with Texas R.I.P.
On Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Main Library.
Our ghost-hunting friends from Texas R.I.P. are back! Join us as they regale us with accounts of their paranormal investigation. Texas Research and Investigation of the Paranormal are a paranormal group that through scientific means try to gain a better understanding of unexplained or strange events.
Creep Fest 2017

Love the feeling you get when watching a scary movie? Want to find more friends who like horror films and books as much as you? Well, look no further! Come to the Main Library’s Creep Fest 2017, and meet up with other horror enthusiasts to watch short horror films, play horror trivia and discuss plots of cult classics. Dress up in your goriest garbs to participate in a costume contest!
