Kids charge Full STEAM Ahead into Fall
Free STEAM programs at the Libraries
Kids charge full steam ahead with fun, free and educational STEAM programs – ones that focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. There are programs at the Main and Warmack Libraries, and, while the Shotwell Library is closed for remodeling, in the library at Garcia Elementary.
Full STEAM Ahead
For elementary school grades 1-5. Come hang out and join in fun art, math, engineering, literacy and science activities with your friends! This elementary school program focuses on STEAM and social/emotional interactions.
- Main Library: Tuesdays at 4:30. Begins Sept. 5.
- Warmack Library: Wednesdays at 4:15. Begins Sept. 6.
- Shotwell Library: Tuesdays at 4 pm, from Sept 12 through Nov. 14. The Shotwell Library is closed for remodeling; these sessions will be held in the Garcia Elementary School library.
Special Full STEAM events:
Hip Hop with Ernesto, on Wed., Sept. 13 at 4:30 p.m. at the Main Library.
Hip Hop Hooray! Start the school year off right with this high-energy, special edition Full STEAM Ahead program. Learn and practice the latest in popping, locking, stepping and more with Ernesto from United Dance Academy.
Byte-Size Tech Takeover
Byte-Size Tech is taking over Full STEAM Ahead! Join us as Lockheed Martin scientists lead us in fun, hands-on activities. Rocket scientists from Lockheed Martin teach us how the size, shape and durability of different materials relates to how far rockets can fly. In this program you will be able to build and launch your own rocket! Programs begin promptly; please be on time. Space is limited.

Building with Home Depot, on Wed., Sept. 20 at 4:15 at the Warmack Library.
We welcome Stephen from Home Depot. Kids in first through fifth grade and their parents are invited to use their creativity and construction skills in this craft project. No signup is required. Space and supplies are limited; please arrive on time.
Predators & Prey, on Wed. Sept. 27 at 4:15 at the Warmack Library.
At this Full Steam Ahead program, discover the differences between carnivores, omnivores, herbivores, predatory animals and prey animals with hands-on activities. Presented by our special guests, the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History.Space is limited. Please arrive on time.
Pumpkin Decorating, on Wed. Oct. 11 at 4:15 at the Warmack Library.
Turn a pumpkin into your favorite book character using the art supplies provided. We have a limited number of pumpkins, but you are welcome to bring your own. Supplies and space are limited. Afterwards, you have the option of entering your pumpkin into the Main Library’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest.
Electric Energy, on Wed. Nov. 28 at 4:30 at the Warmack Library.
Discovery Labs on Wheels are mobile labs that come to us! This is a come-and-go program that will feature our friends from the FW Museum of Science and History. Create circuits with familiar and unfamiliar materials. Explore static electricity using the “hair-raising” Van de Graaf generator!

Read, Play, Learn in the Park: STEAM edition
Join us for this new spin on Read, Play, Learn in the Park. We’ll be reading stories and incorporating hands-on STEAM activities. Come to all three! Each week we’ll have a different STEAM activity. Supplies are limited. Select Thursdays at 5:30 p.m.

Family Science Night
Join us at the Main Library on the first Wednesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. As a family team, you'll compete in fun, science-based challenges. Registration is required. To register, email Krist at firstname.lastname@example.org. First come, first served. Supplies and space are limited. Please arrive on time, or your spot may be given away.
