Fall Gardening Series at Main Library
The Grand Prairie Main Library welcomes city of Grand Prairie horticulturist and arborist Susan Henson for a free, three-part gardening series in September. Each program will be on a Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Main Library.
September 14: Gardening For Fun – Tired of fighting the heat and weeds? Fall gardens avoid all of these problems, plus they need less water, fertilizer and sweat equity. Learn how to reap the benefits of a fall garden.
September 21: Get Tight, Prune It Right – Save dollars and do it right! In this class we cover pruning, not just trees but shrubs, ground cover and perennials. You too can be the envy of your neighbors, increase your curb appeal and increase the longevity of your landscape plant material.
September 28: Containing Your Garden – As yards shrink and more people move into apartments the need for smaller planting areas is here. Smaller plant material is the best choice for small landscapes. Another way to stretch your space is through gardening in containers. Join us to learn the tricks of both methods to make this endeavor fruitful.
