Grand Prairie will turn into a Christmas town this year with holiday events galore! Get in the holiday spirit with a variety of spectacular events and attractions.


Prairie Lights

Dates: Nov. 23 -Dec. 31

Location: Lynn Creek Park, 5610 Lake Ridge Pkwy

Prairie Lights is the premier holiday light park in Texas located at Lynn Creek Park on Joe Pool Lake. Upon arriving at the entrance of Prairie Lights,  you will be dazzled with 4 million lights set along 2 miles of path. Hundreds of ALL-NEW displays in shapes of all kinds line and arch over the roads. Halfway through the drive get out of your car for a stop at Holiday Village where you will find food, gifts, Santa, the brand-new indoor Snow Maze, and the Holiday Magic Lighted Walk-Through Forest. Once back in your vehicle, the second half of the drive ends with the very animated light tunnel – the perfect finale to a night you will never forget!

Magical Winter Lights

Dates: Nov. 17 - Jan. 7

Magical Winter Lights, Houston’s annual lantern festival and holiday celebration, is expanding to Dallas-Fort Worth in partnership with Lone Star Park. The festival bases its designs from Chinese lanterns and transforms them into larger-than-life remakes of well-known landmarks.

The DFW festival will feature an entrance castle lantern inspired by the Dallas County Courthouse, a giant cowboy, and Dallas’ iconic Pegasus. There are several themed sections including Magical Wonderland, Christmas Candy Land, The Lone Star State, Dinosaur Land and Mystery of the East.

Holiday Tree Lighting

Date: 6 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 7

Location: City Hall, 317 College St. 

Cost: FREE

Have a very Prairie Christmas in downtown Grand Prairie with our annual tree lighting ceremony, hosted by the City of Grand Prairie and Grand Prairie Independent School District.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with choir performances, photos with Santa and the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Farmers Market

Location:  120 W. Main St.

Dates: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. every Saturday through Dec. 16 (closed Saturday, Nov. 25 for the Thanksgiving Holiday)

Snow Ho Ho

This December, each library will host their own Snow Ho Ho. Join us at the Main Library on Dec. 18 from 2 to 4 pm, or the Shotwell Library on Dec. 12 from 4 to 6 pm.

At the Warmack Library, families enjoy sensory stations, arts and crafts, a gingerbread man hunt, storytime, and a musical performance. Welcome our special guests: the Gingerbread Man and Santa!

Stanley the Steam Engine miniature train will start offering outdoor rides (weather permitting) at 1:30 pm.
