Farmers Market: Cinco De Mayo

Celebrate Cinco De Mayo at Farmers Market downtown. It is a free event with live entertainment and a great place to shop local for fruits, vegetables, breakfast and lunch foods, handmade gifts, and more.

The Farmers Market is open regular hours, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A community parade starts at 10 a.m. (1405 Main St. near Graff Chevrolet, west to the City Hall Complex) and festivities continue at City Hall, noon until 6 p.m. The celebration includes Grand Prairie ISD performers, mariachi bands, folkloric dancers and vocalists, Tex-Mex festival foods, bounce houses, an art contest and more.

Since 1987 the Cinco de Mayo committee in conjunction with GPISD, City of Grand Prairie, and other community businesses and organizations have worked together to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. GPISD students K-12 have the opportunity to participate in an art contest, a parade, and an all-day celebration with food, booths, and entertainment. Funds raised support scholarships for graduating GPISD seniors.

The Grand Prairie Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays from April through December featuring locally grown fruits and vegetables, meats, honeys, pastries, desserts, salsas, and more. The market was voted #1 best farmers market in Texas and 6th best in the nation for the second year in a row in the American Farmland Trust voting contest.
