The objective of the Environmental Quality Division is to protect the health of the citizens of the City of Grand Prairie through prevention and intervention of disease.
This is done through assessment, education, disease monitoring, regulation, and health services contracted from Dallas County Health and Human Services. Resources, both human and financial, are directed toward areas where improvement in public health services is needed to help control the spread of disease.
WHAT IS A COMMUNICABLE DISEASE?
|
A communicable disease, also called infectious disease, is a disease that spreads from person to person. Communicable diseases are diseases that you can "catch" from someone, or from inanimate objects previously touched by diseased individuals. |
